Dr. Dority on the 33 Royal Principles of Health:
#33. The Law of Demand and Supply

Welcome to “The Royal Principles of Health,” written by Dr. Michael Dority and presented by Selene River Press.
This fascinating series is based on the 33 principles of chiropractic identified by R.W. Stephenson, DC, PhC, in his
1927 classic Chiropractic Textbook. Dr. Dority calls these the “Royal Principles of Health” and invites you to learn
how these foundational tenets illustrate the forces of universal intelligence that guide and determine our existence.

The Root Produces the Fruit

Royal Principle #33 states: The Law of Demand and Supply is existent in the body in its ideal state; wherein the “clearing house” is the brain, Innate the virtuous “banker,” brain cells “clerks,” and nerve cells “messengers.”

The roots of our lives are revealed in numbers. Are we the firstborn or the second-born? Do we have ten fingers and ten toes, two eyes, two ears, and one mouth? How old are you? How tall are you? Numbers control our lives. The Psalmist stated, “He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names” (Psalm 147:4, KJV). We all have a name and a number. Numbers come to us naturally. In some interpretations, the number represents a promise or a covenant.

A structurally sound body essentially holds the promise of health. In this sense, the word promise means an assurance of future achievements. We are assured that the nervous system controls the body. We are promised at our conception that we will grow and develop. This promise is carried out by Innate wisdom embedded in our DNA. It is expressed by a Life Force that must be fed and nourished, first by the foods our parents ate, and then the foods we consume ourselves.

This Life Force also governs the development and function of our cells. Our conscious and unconscious thoughts affect this process, which takes place in the brain and is expressed through the spinal nerve pathways into the body. The wisdom of the Life Force  is amplified into each and every cell as the expression of life. The living body always needs the Life Force.

As Royal Principle #33 in R.W. Stephenson’s Chiropractic Textbook tells us, “The Law of Demand and Supply is existent in the body in its ideal state; wherein the ‘clearing house’ is the brain, Innate the virtuous ‘banker,’ brain cells ‘clerks’ and nerve cells ‘messengers.’” These components of the nervous system are the universal and ordained roots that power our bodies to produce and express an abundance of life and health.

, B.J. Palmer teaches that life consists entirely of mental . Brain cells express thoughts to body cells via the spinal cord. Learning happens through recall and its resultant physiological responses in the body. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) releases in the brain to ensure learning and recall by consolidating and connecting cerebellar neurons. Through this steady supply of mental impulses, learning is expressed over time.

Thinking patterns are imbedded and integrated into the brain and body, taking from 63 to 84 days (or, put another way, three to four cycles, with each cycle lasting three weeks). This length of time mirrors the period it takes for the entire body to be formed in the womb after conception, according to the wisdom of the Life Force. In her 1920 textbook Anatomy, Fourth Edition), Mable H. Palmer describes how thinking patterns are stored and expressed by 63 to 83 nerve centers in the brain. See once again how beautifully numbers govern our lives.

Essentially, the thoughts we entertain are stored, consolidated, and then expressed in the physical body by way of the nervous system. Remember how we learned to write our names? A nervous system control center called the amygdala is embedded in our brain structure. Biochemical messengers released from the amygdala help process memories and emotions of both pleasure and anger. Our response to these memories and feelings activates a change in our physiology that is controlled by the nervous system. Our bodies then react to these signals as they travel though our spine. Through this structural formation of our nerves, we are able to learn and the body is conditioned.

In another example, our heart secretes atrial natriuretic factor, or ANF, which creates a feeling of peace in decision-making. This lets us know if something is right or wrong as we listen to our feelings. When we change our behavior according to the decision we make, the behavior becomes embedded into our physiology over time (63 to 84 days). This positive and lasting change becomes a conditioned reflex in our nervous system.

With the knowledge of these neurological conditioning mechanisms and their expression in the body, we can see that time is of the essence in restoring the body’s healing cycles. Should chiropractic care only last 63 days? Will not more time and energy be required to make corrective changes to spinal subluxations and altered biomechanics?  If organs and tissues are decayed and weakened, the proper nutritional building blocks need more time to restore function. If toxic emotions prevail, affecting organ function, they must be resolved for healthy physiology to be made manifest. Our nervous system is with us for our entire lifetime. Therefore, it needs a lifetime of chiropractic and whole food nutrition care.

From our conception to the twelfth week (84 days), we are completely formed and affected by the physical, biochemical, and emotional state of our parents. Later, our humus body is totally dependent on our own nervous system and food intake to survive and thrive in our environment. Our thoughts and emotions move our lives in the direction of our strongest embedded heart-felt conditioning, learned over time according to our decisions and behavior. Health is promised to each and every one of us, a promise that is expressed in the innumerable cells of the body.

This body is like a garden. If we tend to it lovingly, physically, biochemically, and emotionally, it will produce an abundant harvest of health. Remember Principle #33, that the body is under the “Law of Demand and Supply.” Our total health is not a one-and-done choice, but a daily lifestyle of renewal. Feed the mind by thinking upon positive, life-giving thoughts each and every day. This will feed the amygdala with positive input that is then expressed in the body. Feed the body daily with the blessing of life-giving foods. This equips it with the ability to build  and repair the physical walls that resist, destroy, and repel the invading barbarians of sickness. This task of building our walls is taken on by protein components that make up our cells and bring our genetic code to life. The blueprints for building these proteins are stored in the DNA of our genes. Health is so simple, yet so complex.

Understanding the complexity of the body can be daunting, but it has wisdom—Innate knowledge—that we can trust in. The body, driven by the nervous system, knows how to heal and how to use food made from the dust of the earth to aid that healing. The Greek word aphiemi means to set free or send away. With our knowledge of the natural causes of health and healing, we can set the captives of sickness free. This knowledge is the power behind natural healthcare. Let’s put on our helmets and boots and go to battle for the freedom of health. Let’s do it with the work of our hands and the wisdom ordained and passed to us from the soil. Let our hearts and hands bring the knowledge of healing and restoration to all of humanity.

Some things to think about:

  • To possess perfect health, intelligence, force, and matter must be at full strength.
  • When subluxations are present, they interfere with the full expression of intelligence in the cells of the body.
  • We are a living, breathing microcosm of the universe, endowed to express an abundance of health.
  • Our abundance of health is revealed in our physical bodies as it mirrors our inner lives.
  • Structure and function are married.
