When ‘Food’ Isn’t Food:
How to Fight for Holistic Wealth

Confession time: sometimes, I’m a “scroller.” I find myself in bed at night mindlessly scrolling through Facebook. I try not to do it too often, I really do feel my brain cells withering when I get stuck in the endless scroll zone. But occasionally, it’s fun to see what’s out there.

On my last scroll fest, I came across something truly horrifying. I mean, eyes-wide-open-in-disgust-cannot-look-away horrifying! And while you are likely imagining what this was (and remembering horrors you’ve too seen on social media), my revelation might surprise you.

My revulsion came from… a video recipe.

While I say recipe, I feel that’s a bit too generous. I mean, can you really call it a recipe when every single ingredient is a synthetic, chemical-filled product?

I don’t wish to slander this person, so I won’t include the link to the actual recipe, but let me break it down for you:

  1. Pour some pasteurized milk into a container of lemon Oreos. Shake it up.
  2. Dump the soaked Oreos into a 9×10 aluminum pan and break them up.
  3. Pour one large can of strawberry pie filling over the top (you know, the one that looks like slimy goo and red dye).
  4. Next, mix one package of boxed vanilla pudding into pasteurized milk, and pour it over the top.
  5. Grab a tub of Cool Whip, and, you guessed it, smear on top.
  6. Add some sprinklers and voila, dessert!

Think back on those ingredients. Oreos, canned pie filling, boxed pudding, Cool Whip! I don’t think a single ingredient in that dish has any real food in it. Let’s break down what it does have. (Hint, it’s a lot more than just seven ingredients).

 Cool Whip (Original)

  • Water
  • Hydrogenated vegetable oil (usually coconut & palm kernel oils)
  • High fructose corn syrup
  • Corn syrup
  • Skim milk
  • Light cream
  • Sodium caseinate (a milk derivative)
  • Natural and artificial flavor
  • Xanthan and guar gums
  • Polysorbate 60
  • Sorbitan monostearate
  • Beta carotene (for color)

Oreos (Original, the lemon flavor likely has additional ingredients)

  • Sugar
  • Unbleached enriched flour (wheat flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine, etc.)
  • Palm and/or canola oil
  • Cocoa (processed with alkali)
  • High fructose corn syrup
  • Leavening agents (baking soda, calcium phosphate)
  • Soy lecithin (emulsifier)
  • Salt
  • Chocolate
  • Artificial flavor

Canned Cherry Pie Filling

  • Cherries
  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Modified food starch
  • High fructose corn syrup
  • Citric acid
  • Red 40 (artificial dye)
  • Natural and artificial flavors

 Boxed Vanilla Pudding Mix

  • Sugar
  • Modified cornstarch
  • Contains less than 2% of:
    • Disodium phosphate
    • Tetrasodium pyrophosphate (thickening agents)
    • Monoglycerides
    • Artificial flavor
    • Yellow 5 & Yellow 6 (dyes)
    • BHA (preservative)

Colored Sprinkles

  • Sugar
  • Corn starch
  • Partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (often soybean or palm)
  • Confectioner’s glaze (a shellac derived from insects)
  • Artificial colors – including:
    • Red 40
    • Yellow 5
    • Yellow 6
    • Blue 1
    • Blue 2
    • Green 3
  • Soy lecithin
  • Carnauba wax (for shine)
  • Artificial flavoring

What’s even more depressing? This video has 46.5 thousand views, 2.6 thousand comments, and 30 thousand shares.

This is why we are a nation of mass disease and sickness! Take a gander at the shocking rise in child health issues in Dr. Keppel’s recent post, “Why Are Kids’ Heath Issues on the Rise?I’m betting good money that “recipes” like this are contributing to those numbers!

Another appeal to this dessert I’m sure is the affordable cost. Want to talk about costs? Review the prices of medical treatments in Dr. Dority’s post, “You Are of Great Value.” Still want to reach for that 0.25-cent box of pudding?

So, how do we combat this constant stream of processed, chemical-filled, fast fake foods that surround us everywhere we go?!

We learn. We teach. We fight.

And that’s exactly what we do at Selene River Press. I am honored and grateful to be part of this company. I am blessed to see through the lies and disgust of our so called “food” industry. And now, I spread what I know. Starting with my own family.

If you’re looking for ways to begin your journey back to real food, or to help someone you know do so, start with one (or all) of these resources. These are perfect for anyone, no matter what your level of knowledge.

I personally own and have read/watched every single one of these products! They’ve changed my life, and my family’s. And that’s only touching the surface of the holistic wealth offered at Selene River Press. From the blog, to the Historical Archives, and the Videos, you’ll find an endless supply of FREE knowledge gold.

Not to sound too dramatic here, but the truth is, it’s time to fight. It’s time to stop the lies, the garbage food trends, and the big pharma corruption. And the fight starts with making informed choices.

Start now. It’s never too late. Your future self will thank you for it.

If people knew how to make this recipe healthier and keto, for example , it would be a lot better! Or if items were sold at the stores like raw heavy cream (especially sold in glass) that could be mixed with a bit of organic, raw honey (or not sweetened at all if the fruit were sweet enough) and add in some organic fresh cherries and/or berries or another delicious fruit! This would be a total dessert treat!
