Celebrating Heart Health Awareness

Hello everyone! Although this video was originally recorded in February for Heart Health Awareness month, I wanted to spread it through March as well since heart health should always be top of mind.

As we embrace the month of love, let’s also highlight an equally important aspect that often doesn’t get enough attention: heart health awareness. Let’s show some love to ourselves by taking care of what could be considered the most vital organ in our body—our heart.

In today’s staff review, I’m excited to talk about an exceptional book we offer that delves into heart health, particularly focusing on heart disease—its understanding, learning, and prevention. Heart disease stands as the leading cause of death in the United States, surpassing cancer, accidents, and other causes. This staggering statistic underlines the importance of the subject.

The book, Put Your Heart in Your Mouth, is not just a discussion on heart health but also challenges the numerous misconceptions surrounding it and health in general. One section at the beginning of the book particularly caught my attention, and I believe it will resonate with many of our listeners and viewers.

It addresses the pervasive myths about fats and cholesterol. Our collection includes other books and products that shed light on the truth about fats and cholesterol, highlighting how their demonization has been detrimental. The prevailing low-fat, no-fat, and cholesterol-free trends are not only misleading but are actually harming our hearts.

An astonishing statistic from the book reveals that cholesterol-lowering medications are the most prescribed drugs worldwide, second only to painkillers. Authored by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, this book is essential for anyone looking to understand the reality of heart disease and the plethora of other health issues related to the heart. It offers invaluable insights into avoiding these ailments and learning how to maintain heart health, ultimately enhancing both the quality and quantity of life.

Dr. Campbell-McBride is a well-respected figure in this field, and her work, including titles like Vegetarianism Explained and Gut and Psychology Syndrome, has contributed greatly to our understanding of nutrition and health. Put Your Heart in Your Mouth goes beyond the surface, exploring the impact of nutrition, the truth about processed carbohydrates, and the effects of what we consume on our hearts.

This month, do yourself a favor: pick up this book, dive into its pages, and take a step towards better heart health. Thank you all for tuning in, and remember to take care of your heart. Until next time, goodbye!
