Product Review Starring GI Adsorb

In 2021 Standard Process replaced one of their popular and much-loved products, Cholacol II, with something new: GI Adsorb.

I have been using Standard Process exclusively in my office since 1989. It was a sad day when I found out that Cholacol II was no longer going to be available due to sourcing problems with the bentonite clay. This clay is adsorbent, meaning toxins attach to it before they can get into the bloodstream. Adsorption is many times more effective than absorption. Cholacol II has been greatly missed.

But now we have GI Adsorb! With different ingredients but the same physiological action, this product will adsorb toxins so they can be eliminated via the bowel.

Let’s take a look at the ingredients in GI Adsorb:

  • Clinoptilolite (G-PUR): The result of a proprietary, patented process to remove natural remnant impurities, G-PUR is a purified zeolite/clinoptilolite mineral from volcanic ash (most commonly used for water purification). This has the adsorbent quality we are seeking. Imagine, if you will, swallowing a Velcro ball. Toxins from either your body’s own metabolism or food tainted with harmful microbes attach themselves to the Velcro ball. Therefore, these toxins cannot get loose into the bloodstream and cause food poisoning or other illness.
  • Collinsonia root: Also known as stone root, this ingredient has been long used by Dr. Lee and Standard Process. You may remember that Collinsonia root has a long history with herbalists for treating hemorrhoids. According to com, “reports suggest that this root may reduce anal inflammation, spasms, and prolapses, as well as relieve abdominal or pelvic symptoms caused by these conditions.”
  • Green chlorella: This algae is a whole-food source of chlorophyll, which gives it that strong green color. Chlorella has a very hard cell wall that must be cracked in order to get the nutritional benefits, which is why it must be taken in supplement form. (Click here for more information about the nutrients in chlorella, as well as its ability to aid detox, improve immune function, and benefit the circulatory system.)

This product is a must-have when traveling out of the country or on long backpacking trips. It is also essential to keep in your supplement cabinet at home in case someone in the family has intestinal complaints like diarrhea from food poisoning. The sooner you start using GI Adsorb, the better results you will get.

You can also consider GI Adsorb for any detox program, including heavy metal detox. Or simply take it for a few weeks a couple of times of year just to maintain bowel health.
