Spring Rituals for Our Bodies

Bubbles Spring

It’s March! It’s March! It’s March!

Why all the excitement? Because with March comes spring, and with spring comes rejuvenation and reawakening to all living things—plants and animals alike. And I, for one, love it! Spring means less brown and barren, more green and vibrant.

For us humans, spring brings a natural sense of reinvigoration as the days get longer and the mercury rises on our thermometers. I’ve noticed my family welcomes the season in different ways:

  • We spend more time outdoors. Being more physically active means reaping the health benefits of hanging out in nature.
  • We reconsider our eating habits. This can mean a complete overhaul or just a shift to lighter fare—I know my palate seems convinced that a green salad always tastes better when eaten in warm weather.
  • We adjust our outlook on life. We seem more optimistic and better able to tackle whatever comes our way—maybe because life seems less daunting out in all that sunshine and fresh air.

As we get closer to spring this year, I find myself wondering something. Is there a way to rejuvenate the internal workings of my body and flush away the buildup of winter? Should I incorporate a new spring ritual to lighten my load?

A friend of mine swears by acupuncture for spring cleansing and physical rejuvenation. I’d love to hear about what you do for health as the calendar races toward the Spring Equinox.
